The versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha’s Tamil flick ’96 is now being remade in Kannada as 99. The film, which was purely a magical and feel good movie where Vijay Sethupathi unfolds his innocent childhood love story, which won the heart of audiences and made them to completely Indulge in the Nostalgia.
Now Preetham Gubbi, is planning to bring back the same magical experience to the Kannada Audience.
The film is being remade in many other Indian languages while the Kannada remake rights have been bagged by Ramu, who then approached Preetham Gubbi to consider the screenplay to be remade in Kannada, Gubi who had watched the film and loved it, Said yes right away.
Preetham Gubbi and Ganesh who goes back to the long friendship, decided to rename the film as 99, where they actually share many college memories through the common friends.
The Tamil flick was named as ’96 where they reunite after 22 years long gap, but whereas in Kannada its after 18 years. Which is also, one of the reason to consider the title 99.
This will be Preetham’s Tenth directoral and the first straight remake film. However, Preetham is planning to make necessary changes to the original screenplay to our nativity.
99 is going to be a musical film, where Arjun Janya will be composing the seven songs for the film. Preetham is also working on Ganesh’s new Avatar for the flick and he says Ganesh will come after the audience like never seen before.
The team is yet to finalize the rest of the cast, also in search of the fresh face for the female lead, which is likely to happen through the auditions. While Santhosh Rai Pathaje Is on board as the cinematographer.
Currently Ganesh is busy, shooting for Geetha and Orange is ready to hit the theatres on December 7, on the same day the team has planned to have the Muhurath for 99. While the shooting for the film will begin sometime in January and eying summer release, with the 40 days one stretch shooting schedule.
We are curious to know how Preetham is going to execute this film as this will be is his first straight remake flick. Seems he’s very excited, who had actually dropped working on his own script Maryuva Munna for this.
