Kannada YouTube sensation Shravan Aithal is all set to make his acting debut as one of the lead in a feature film named ‘SPS – Steel Paathre Saaman’. It’s a comic film which has a sensitive storyline about our current generation, the movie will be helmed by director Aravind Kaushik.
YouTube craze in India started little late compared to the west. There are thousands of YouTubers in India who are creating innovative contents on this platform, we have our own YouTuber who won hearts of Kannadigas with his YouTube channel NamduK (Namdu Kannada).
We have done a virtual interview with Shravan Aithal, take a look at the inspiring story behind his hard work and dedication towards his passion.
▶ Why you love movies and why movies are something else to you?
Shravan – The love for movies started from my childhood, where my dad used to watch couple of movies in theater every week and he took me along with him.
When I saw larger than life characters in our movies, I always wanted to be one of them in big screen as well as in real life. The world used to talk about those reel life characters that made a strong mark in my mind.
I always dreamt from my childhood that people should appreciate my work and I wanted to have a fan following like actors whom I watched it on silver screens.
▶ How you started your YouTube and Movie journey?
Shravan – The journey actually took off from my childhood where I wrote skits, stories in my school days but no one helped me to publish it in magazines. I still remember, I used to paste my stories on notice boards.
During my college days, I got recognized for my writings and dramas that motivated me to do more and go with the path which I dreamt from my childhood.
When I joined one of the leading MNCs, I got to know about YouTube, where it gives a free platform for content creators irrespective of language, country and other barriers. (Shravan’s favourite YouTuber is BB Ki Vines fame Bhuvan Bam).
I realized that YouTube is the right platform to showcase my skill set. Post uploading my skits, I got few movie offers where my character had major similarity with many of the current gen masala comic films and I respectfully denied to do those roles.
A ray of hope finally shined when I was approached by Radhakrishna sir, he offered me a small role along with Raj B Shetty in ‘Maya Bazar 2016’,
(The movie is directed by Radhakrishna Reddy and produced by Puneeth Rajkumar under PRK Productions banner. It has Raj B Shetty, Vasishta N Simha and Chaitra Rao in the main lead roles)
I felt I was blessed when Aravind Kaushik sir offered me one of the lead role in SPS and I’m really thankful to both of them.
▶ What’s your destination?
Shravan – When it comes to films, I would like to be one of the well-known artists in KFI with good fan following.
On the other hand, I have dream to create platforms like Netflix, TVFPlay for Kannada content creators.
▶ How you manage your corporate life and your passion?
Shravan – Jayanth Kaikini sir once told me that, every day we have to give ample amount of time to our passion, that keeps knocking me and I gave/give the special space each day to what I love the most in my daily routine.
▶ Who is your inspiration?
Shravan – There are many people who inspired me. Major inspiration comes from my mom who gave courage to act in my childhood in front of the kids who used to come for tutorials.
And my dad who keeps me motivated when I get discouraged by seeing the subscribers of my YouTube channel.
My favourite Actor and Inspiration in KFI is Crazy Star Ravichandran.
▶ What are all the difficulties which you’re facing and what keeps you motivated?
Shravan – I’m thankful to whole NamduK team, all of them work in corporate companies and we work on our projects when everyone gets time. And, we work with minimal budget for each acts for NamduK.
Sometimes we get discouraged by seeing the reach of our skits but we motivate ourselves to do the best from next one. We hope one fine day we will achieve what we dream of. (Shravan signs off).
